Christian primarily focuses on employment and family law, operating on the core value that empathy and understanding for each client's unique situation are key to reaching the best possible result. Christian evaluates every case for the possibility of mediation or some other form of alternative dispute resolution, understanding that often the best results come out of resolutions crafted by the parties themselves, outside of the uncertainty and rigidity of the courts. For those cases where litigation is unavoidable, however, Christian is an excellent litigator and has successfully won and defended many cases in courts and administrative agencies throughout Utah.
Labor & Employment Law
Christian handles a wide range of employment issues, including discrimination, harassment, unpaid wages and overtime, non-compete disputes, and wrongful termination. He also helps independent contractors collect unpaid compensation or otherwise enforce their contracts. In the public employment space, Christian represents government employees - many of them at Hill Air Force Base - in disciplinary action challenges and equal employment opportunity complaints. He has filed and litigated cases in state and federal court, as well as at the Utah Labor Commission, the Utah State Office of Education, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the National Labor Relations Board, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, and the Merit Systems Protection Board.
For small businesses, Christian provides advice and compliance audits to help them avoid employment-related problems in the future.
Family Law & Divorce
Christian also practices family law, and enjoys the opportunity to assist people in the most important area of their lives - family. Having representation in divorce and custody cases can make what is otherwise a frustrating and complicated process simpler and more rational. In addition to divorce and custody, family law encompasses modifications or enforcement of child support and alimony, parent time disputes, establishing paternity, protective orders, name changes, guardianship, and step-parent adoption. If you just need an attorney to speak on your behalf in a single hearing, or to help you prepare a court filing, limited representation may be an option.
Christian is experienced in collecting business and consumer debts, both small amounts and large. Collections services range from initial demand letters and debt negotiations, up to obtaining and collecting judgments. Contact Christian to discuss the many tools available to ultimately collect the money owed, including locating employment information, garnishing wages and bank accounts, recording liens against real estate, and seizing vehicles and other assets.
Christian represents clients throughout Utah, including St. George, Cedar City, Kanab, Salt Lake City, Park City, Heber, Ogden, Clearfield, Farmington, Bountiful, West Valley, West Jordan, Sandy, Tooele, Pleasant Grove, Orem and Provo.
